Chalk Talks

Chalk talks was what Jonathan, Rebekah and Grace Hendry had in mind when they went to Chalk Art Camp in Aug 07.

The camp was held in Winston Salem, NC, and taught by Matthew Bowman, one of the best chalk art teachers in the country. The triplets say enjoyed themselves very much.

"I love learning new skills!" says Rebekah. "And our teacher was really good. I'm so excited about doing chalk talks when I get home." They did a chalk talk midweek at a local Soup Kitchen. "I did the art and my Mom did the talk." explained Jonathan, who confided he was a little nervous at first. When the triplets arrived home, they found lots of chalk art work awaiting them. Rebekah was the first to do a chalk talk. She did it in the finished barn behind the Hendry's house.

The Hendry's pastor, Bob Barton, (www.hbaptist.org), attended it along with several other families.

"It was a lot of of fun. But it was a little hard, too." Rebekah says, with a laugh.

The triplets all love chalk art, especially Jonathan, who has started creating his own drawings.

"I did one for The National Anthem's Anniversary." Jonathan explained. "I had the ship Francis Scott Key was on and also Fort McHenry. In the blacklight I had the flag, fireworks and a cross."

"I thought it was really great!" Grace says, with admiration. "He's excellent at designing his own drawings."

The triplets are available to come to your church to do a chalk talk. For more information email: jonathanh@homeschoolemail.com
